Mainspring Loft is a watch repair workshop on Ratchadamnoen Road in Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district. We exist to look after mechanical timepieces with care, skill, and a clear written record of everything we do.

Mainspring Loft
Mainspring Loft opened on Ratchadamnoen Road in Phra Nakhon after its founder, a watchmaker who trained in both Thailand and Switzerland, wanted a space where mechanical repairs could be done without the pressure of a retail front. The name comes from the mainspring — the coiled strip of metal at the heart of most mechanical movements — a small, precise part that stores and releases energy steadily over time. It felt like an honest description of what good watchmaking requires.
The workshop takes on a modest number of pieces at any one time. That's intentional. A watch brought in for a heritage overhaul shouldn't be competing for bench space with a backlog of simpler jobs. Each service — whether a Quick Check or a Full Overhaul — receives the same level of attention in its documentation and handling.
We work with owners who value knowing what was done to their watch, not just that it was done. The written record we provide at the end of each service is something you keep with the piece — part of its history going forward.

Head Watchmaker
Trained in movement servicing in Bangkok and later in Switzerland. Has worked on mechanical and automatic movements for over fifteen years, with a particular interest in older Thai market pieces.
Pimchanok Rattana
Workshop Assistant
Handles case cleaning, strap work, and the preparation and return stages of each job. Manages the written service records and ensures the documentation matches the physical work completed.
Nathee Suksri
Parts & Research
Focuses on parts sourcing for heritage overhauls. Works to identify period-appropriate components and tracks supplier relationships across Europe and Southeast Asia for older calibres.

Inspection First
Every piece is inspected before any work begins. We don't start a job without understanding what the watch needs, and we share that understanding with the owner before proceeding.
Timing Verification
For cleaning and overhaul services, we take timing readings before and after work. Both sets of figures are recorded and returned with the watch — a transparent account of what changed.
Parts Accountability
If a part is replaced, it is noted in the service record. For heritage overhauls, the reasoning behind part choices is included. Old parts are returned if the owner wishes to keep them.
Secure Handling
Watches are tagged and logged from the moment they arrive. A piece is never left unidentified on the bench. Owners receive a written receipt at drop-off and a record at collection.
Scope Control
We don't take on more pieces than we can service well. Workload is managed so that no job is rushed due to an overloaded bench. Expected timelines are communicated at acceptance.
Data Privacy
Customer details collected during enquiry and service are held for workshop records only. We do not share personal data with third parties and hold information only for as long as it is needed.

Mechanical Watch Repair in Bangkok
Mechanical and automatic watches are among the more demanding things to service well. The tolerances involved are small — movements run on components measured in hundredths of a millimetre — and the consequences of poor lubrication or incorrect regulation show up slowly, over months of wear. A watch that runs a few minutes fast each day looks fine on the wrist but is telling you something about the state of its movement.
At Mainspring Loft, we take this seriously. When an owner brings in a watch for a cleaning and regulation service, they receive timing data before and after the work. That data is meaningful: it shows exactly where the watch started, and where it ended up. It also makes clear what kind of improvement the service produced.
Older and inherited watches require a somewhat different kind of attention. Parts may no longer be in production, and the refinishing of a case — if it's appropriate at all — needs to reflect the original character of the piece rather than making it look new. Heritage overhaul work at Mainspring Loft is planned and discussed with the owner before it begins. Nothing is done without agreement, and the stages are logged as the job progresses.
Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district is one of the older parts of the city, and Ratchadamnoen Road has a certain character that suits a workshop of this kind. The pace here is a little different from the commercial districts, and that suits the work well.
